1. Park Management positions
available annually in various parks.
|
|
Pre-Requisites for Park
Managers:
-
Able to motivate & manage a staff of 3 to 10
employees (Bear Creek & Texas Creek)
-
Must be a ‘working manager’ & be able to co-ordinate
& organize daily maintenance & operation of the park
-
Must be able to work within the policies,
guidelines, as provided by Kaloya Contracting Ltd. &
BC Parks
-
Must be able to handle difficult guests & resolve
arising customer & staffing issues in a professional
and timely manner
-
Useful to have experience in retail, small business,
grounds & landscaping maintenance
-
Managers have high-speed internet where available.
-
Texas Creek: May be required to live on site
-
Conkle Lake: Must be able to work independently &
enjoy working alone as park is located in a remote
sub-alpine location (may be responsible for up to 1
other staff at times)

Conkle Lake: Must provide own self-contained
accommodation (ie. RV) as is required to live on site

A Valid First Aid Level I
Certificate and / or Criminal Record Check
(may be required prior to commencing employment)
3. "Live
On Site Host" Positions available in various parks.
Perfect for retiree wanting to live in the Okanagan
during the summer months.
Prerequisites & Description:
-
Must live at the Park during Park Operating
Season (dates & length may vary from park to park)
-
May be required to Open & Close Park Gates, do
some park security, & sell firewood
-
Must have own self-contained RV to live in.
-
May include Volunteer Camphost Duties (see
below)
-
Must
have a valid Level I First aid Certificate &, in the
event of an emergency, required to provide initial
first aid & contact specific emergency
services.

Criminal Record Check required.
Terms of
Employment:
Varies from May through
August or mid June through Labour Day (approximately). At times,
positions may be extended or shortened somewhat. Management Positions in
the Okanagan may begin as early as March & in the Boundary Area as early
as May.

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS:
Volunteer Camp Host Positions
are available annually in various parks & are perfect for a retired
couple who love the outdoors, love people, & love to stay active! Terms
of commitment vary between parks and range from as short as 4 weeks to
as long as the entire season in one park. If this may be of interest to

Volunteer
Camp Host Responsibilities (Duties):
-
To be
available to Park Guests for a minimum of 20 hours 5 days per week
during scheduled term
-
To
welcome Park Guests
-
To
provide guests with general information regarding the park, the
local surroundings, and tourist activities, etc.
-
To
maintain & organize Park Info Board & Host Kiosk with approved &
appropriate literature, etc.
-
To sell small amounts of firewood from host site
(firewood provided by
Park Operator)
-
To
possibly open and/or close Park entrance gates as directed by Park
Operator
-
To live
by Park Act and its Standards
-
To have a good relationship and open communication with Park
Operator & staff

provide own RV for living accommodation

energetic, upbeat, and personable

Must
enjoy meeting and greeting people

enjoy the outdoors

Must complete Criminal Record Check
(at own expense)
– copy to received by Kaloya Contracting Ltd. by May 15th at the
latest
In Return for Volunteer
Service, Kaloya Contracting Ltd. will provide:

A Free campsite including full hook-ups
(water, power, & sewer),
picnic table, firepit, and use of campground facilities during
scheduled term
-
an Honorarium from Company in appreciation and gratitude for
service to the Park
